Before you buy

Windows PC

64-bit Windows 10 version 2004 or later, or Windows 11. Check the Microsoft Store listing for current device eligibility. Model requirements vary; a dedicated GPU is helpful for larger local models and image generation.

Models & tools

Choose a compatible local model through LM Studio or Forge’s supported local setup, or configure a supported API provider. Models, optional tools and their storage needs are separate. API providers may charge for usage.

Android Link

Android 8 or later. Requires Forge on an awake, reachable PC and a configured private connection. It does not run the Windows workspace or models independently.

CA$79.99 one-time beta purchase for Windows. Android Link is free. Internet is needed for downloads, online providers and web search. Compatible local inference can work offline after setup; phone access requires connectivity.

Set up in five steps

  1. Install Windows Forge. Use the Microsoft Store download. Launch it before connecting the phone.
  2. Choose your AI. Open Connections or Local models. For LM Studio, load a compatible model and start its local server, then select it in Forge. For an API, save your provider connection and select a model.
  3. Try Chat first. Send a short message. Confirm the selected model responds before enabling optional tools.
  4. Try Work. Start a task and request a small document or presentation. Enable the required tools, approve actions when asked, and inspect the generated file.
  5. Pair Android Link. Install the free companion, enable Phone access in Windows Forge, then scan its QR code or enter the address and pairing code. Enable Work access when you need project and file features.

Keep the PC awake while using Link. Share only folders you want accessible from the phone.

If something does not connect

No models?

Check that your local server is running and a model is loaded, or that the API connection is saved correctly. Refresh the model list and select the intended model.

Phone disconnected?

Confirm Forge is running, Phone access is enabled, and the PC is awake and reachable. Check the address and renew pairing if the code expired.

A tool is unavailable?

Check its setup and permissions in Forge. Image engines, document tools and coding integrations may require additional dependencies.
